What are our architect and interior design fees? What are our architect and interior design fees? There are two main fee types architects offer. One is lump sum and the other is percentage based fees. % based fees are where the architects fees are calculated on the basis of a % of the construction cost. We have never been able to see the correlation between a percentage of construction cost and the value we bring or the amount of work we do. Yes, the larger the house the more work is involved but there is no link between this and a percentage fee. So, we do lump sum fees. That gives you the client certainty about what costs are involved for you from start to finish. The only part of the process we suggest doing hourly fees is during construction.
