This North Bondi project was designed around a common challenge: how to bring natural light deep into a home with a south-facing rear yard.
Rather than relying only on large windows at the back, the design uses an internal light void to draw daylight into the centre of the house. This helps make the main living spaces feel brighter and more open, while also creating a visual connection between the ground floor and first floor.

The rear living area is planned as a generous, everyday family space, opening out to the garden while still feeling warm, calm and connected internally. The light void gives the home a sense of openness without needing every space to be fully exposed.
Externally, the architecture is designed to feel dynamic without becoming overwhelming. The upper level is broken into smaller, more distinct elements, using changes in form, depth and material to reduce the sense of bulk. Rather than reading as one large block, the home is composed as a series of lighter, more carefully scaled parts.
The result is a contemporary family home that balances light, privacy, outlook and street presence on a compact North Bondi site.
